Folky Carved Brook Trout
A wonderfully folky carved brook trout from Benton Station in central Maine, circa 1900. This trout has a great primitive look including an unusual painted landscape scene on the plaque. Signed L.U. Bugbee. With its dry original surface and soft mellow patina, this is truly Maine folk art at its best. I can just imagine this being carved in an old logging camp in February with 4 feet of snow on the ground...
Plaque measures 12.5" by 6".
