Wonderful, folky old merganser pair by Maurice Hight (S. Portland, Maine), circa 1930s. They have hat pin eyes and a great mellow old surface. These originally came with horsehair crests, but they are long since gone. Pairs of Hight mergansers are quite unusual. There are many more drakes.
Drake: Clean break to neck. Average in-use wear. Original paint.
Hen: Paint loss to area behind neck. Small crack to body. Lower right hand side has piece added to hollow area, but is original to bird. A little bit more paint loss to right side than left
Drake: 19" long, 6" wide, 6.25" high
Hen: 18" long, 6" wide, 6.5" high
