Rare Red Knot in Spring Plumage
One of the nicest shorebirds that we've had this year. This bird has a wonderful plump body, split tail, glass eyes, and original bill, with an extremely clean & dry surface. But, the best thing is the intricate, fine scratch painting of the head, which continues down the neck to the wing, and down the breast. This is almost never found on MA shorebirds. And … the red knot is probably one of the most rare of species to be found in MA shorebirds.
All original in every way, showing very little wear, with several shot holes. Most likely South Shore of MA (Hingham-Duxbury area).
