Magnificent Ruffed Grouse (Carl Malmstrom, Long Cove, ME, 1882–1975)
 
Magnificent 1/2-size ruffed grouse by Carl Malmstrom, c. 1960. This is probably the finest carving we have ever seen by this artist, having carved tail feathering, dropped carved wingtips, eye and crest carving, and neck ruff with raised feathers.
 
A good opportunity to acquire one of Malmstrom's finest. Its slightly smaller size makes it easy to place in many spots where a life-size bird would not quite fit.
 
Absolutely mint in all respects. Signed on bottom of driftwood base.
Measures 9.25" tall including base. Base is 13" long and 12.5" deep.
