Early Black Duck by AE Crowell
A nice example of a mid-period working black duck similar to the Iver Johnson Models, but a little earlier. These birds were the mainstay of many of the gunning stands on Cape Cod and the South Shore of MA.
 
Fine dry surface, prominently turned-to-the-left head. In-use wear. Touch-up to paint on the center left side of bird, approximately 2x3", along with several nickel-size spots on the right side. Some shot scars have been darkened. Unstamped.
 
This bird has the classic Crowell look without the price tag!
 
Measures 10.25" long.
