A wonderful little goldfinch from the midcoast of Maine (McFarland, So Bristol, ME). The McFarland family were well known for the seafood market they ran for many generations. This carving was most likely done in the late 30s or early 40s and sold in their market. This bird has a clean crisp and dry surface and is mounted on a twig and birch base. Signed on the bottom.

There is a chip to tip of bill with touch-up and a sliver has been replaced to left side of tail. Both professionally done.
 
Measures 4.75" tall and 4" tip to tail.
