Western Grebe by Sam Burgess (Rockport, MA)
This is an extremely detailed carving of a grebe on its nest, circa 1950s-1960s. She is carved from rock maple and has a natural finish. Sam Burgess  was a gunsmith from Rockport, MA who was known for his high quality stocks. His bird carvings were only given as gifts. Signed on bottom.
 
Measures 3.5" tall and the base measures 3.75" x 2.5".
