Early Matched RedBreasted Merganser Pair by Ralph Laurie (1883–1964; Hingham, MA)
 
I've seen quite a few mergansers by Laurie and they all seem to be a little different. These two are early and were clearly made at the same time and meant to be a pair. There is saw carving to the drake which you don't see very often.
     Both birds have an elaborate paint pattern and are excellent & original in all respects. Both bear Laurie's stamp, but it is barely visible on the drake.

Drake measures 6.5" tall.
Hen measures 6.75" tall.
