Plover by Obediah Verity (1813-1901)
This bird must have been a real workhorse in its day! Verity shorebirds are about as early as they get.
This plover is in old in-use repaint, with a working bill replacement that has been reset with glue at a later time. Some touch-up to the area to cover evidence of glue. A working chip to top of head, with piece reset with small nails. Classic form.
Interesting geometric base is included.
Measures 8.75" long tip to tail.
